Cleaning the Workshop - Page 14

A bit of carving amid the turnings

A couple of low relief bears heading off into the sunset. Behind them are one of those ball in cage things everyone carves sooner or later and a dolphin that a few people carve sooner or later. A couple of low relief bears heading off into the sunset
Left to right front: an unfinished copy of a stained glass window of St George and the Dragon, beginnings of pansies, a daffodil awaiting a finish, and a blocked out dogwood flower. I think it would make a nice cover for a pen box. Back the carvings go into the much lighter box. St George and the Dragon, beginnings of pansies, etc
I think I must have been teaching a class to kids on small decoys. I will just shut this up and put it away. supplies for a class to kids on small decoys
These have got to be dry, dry dry. As I recall I cut these burls from a dead spruce, victim of bark beetle, from our Christmas tree land down on the Old Polson farm. burls from a dead spruce, victim of bark beetle
A blast of air to clean the dust, a quick trim of some of the waste, and back in the box. There should be some awesome grain in these. The thing to do with cleaning is to ignore stuff like this, do not put it on the lathe, and keep going. clean it, place it and keep going
A cedar burl to dust and keep. A cedar burl to dust and keep.
