Woodturning a bowl too long for its width. (7)

"When the other bowls are boring, this one could keep you awake."

The upper edge has been cleaned up somewhat with the 45° tool and the bottom is closer. Note the insect damage about 1/3 of the way up on the edge. It is filled with fine powder from the larvae. woodturning big wing image
A quick blast with the air hose and an accent is left for the edge. The inside is not too bad given the nature of the cutter the piece, and a rather poor photo. woodturning big wing image
Both are seen a little better here. I have hollowed the piece leaving an "island" to be removed with the straight tool. woodturning big wing image
The same from a different perspective. I will work the island from the outside in. woodturning big wing image
More of the island removed and the general shape of the bottom revealed. woodturning big wing image
Again a different perspective. woodturning big wing image
The island is cleaned down and the inside is ready to sand. woodturning big wing image
A different perspective. Note that I have cut the long strands with a sharp carving knife to facilitate sanding. Push the knife into the work to prevent pulling the strands. woodturning big wing image
