Over long years and centuries the Athabasca River has cut its way through the rock
to form the amazing Athabasca Falls.
They have cut their way through layers of rock
and form eddies that drill their way to deepen the falls even more.
Having fallen a long way it has a deceptive stillness
in the lake below.

The water here has a greenish cast. These are glacial rivers that are highest as the summer months come on with heat to melt the glacier a little more. As the glaciers move across their rocky berths they make a rock flour that colors the water.

You can really see how the varying hardnesses of the rock gives a layered effect as the water has cut through.
